Brought up in Derbyshire, England
but now residing in Ennis, Co.Clare, Tricia began playing the piano
at a very early age, studying classical and, later, jazz music. She
also began to learn several other instruments, including the guitar,
bass, and piano accordion. At the age of fourteen, she began to get
interested in Irish music and persuaded her parents to buy her a
fiddle. She began to teach herself on the instrument, by listening
to CDs and attending workshops such as those at Scoil Samhraidh
Willie Clancy.
Tricia
is currently studying for a BA in Traditional Music & Dance at the
Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in the University of
Limerick, where she studies fiddle and piano. In Limerick she has also been given the
opportunity to learn bouzouki and concertina. The Academy is a great
meeting point for musicians from all over the world, and it was from
there that Tricia was a founding member of international band,
The
Outside Track. With them, she went on to produce a highly acclaimed
album and took part in several successful tours around the UK and
Ireland, before leaving in September 2007.
As well as a successful spell with The Outside Track, Tricia is
also embarking on a collaboration with Clare-based
singer/songwriter, Josie Harrington. She has appeared at festivals
such as Sidmouth International Folk Festival, where The Outside
Track supported Altan on the main stage, The Buncrana Traditional
Arts Festival, Temple Bar Trad Festival and the Carrick Music
Festival. She has toured in Europe with various musicians,
performing alongside acts such as
At First Light and
Arcanadh.
In December
2007, Tricia recorded her debut solo album, 'The
Lark's March', which will be released later on this
year. For more information, see the
