Tricia was brought up in Derbyshire, England. She began learning music at a
a very early age, starting off on piano, recorder and guitar all whilst still in
primary school. She dabbled in classical and jazz music before discovering
traditional music in her mid-teens. She then took up the piano accordion
before nagging her parents into buying her a fiddle. She took to the fiddle
and invested all her energy in mastering it. Within just a couple of years of
taking up the fiddle she made it to the semi-finals of the BBC's Young Folk
Award and was accepted onto the BA in Irish Music & Dance at the University
of Limerick.
Trish graduated from the BA with a first class honours. During the course of
the degree she was also a founding member of The Outside Track, with whom
she recorded a critically acclaimed album and toured extensively throughout
the UK and Ireland. She also performed and taught at numerous festivals
around Europe, and is widely recognised as a gifted teacher as well as
performer.
In December 2007 Tricia recorded her debut solo album, The Lark's March,
which was then released in June 2008. The album received fantastic reviews,
cementing Trish's place as "one of the tradition's great players" (Siobhàn
Peoples in the introduction to the CD). Tricia has also been fortunate
enough to tour America with the fantastic German band, Cara and also works
with fabulous singer/songwriter, Josie Harrington. Josie performs on The Lark's
March and is currently rehearsing and recording for her solo album.
